Campaign Finance Board Launches New Agency Website

July 2, 2015

Today, the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) launched its newly designed website, www.nyccfb.info. The design will better connect users with the New York City campaign finance and election information they seek.

The website’s enhancements reflect current best practices in user experience design, making the CFB’s resources more accessible than ever before. The website’s most-accessed functional areas are prominently featured on the new home page, connecting users with the information they seek clearly and quickly. The website is fully mobile-responsive, and will better serve the growing number of users who access CFB information on a smaller screen, whether by smartphone or tablet.

The launch comes two weeks before the July 15 filing deadline, when the latest disclosure information from candidates participating in the 2015 and 2017 election cycles will be made available to the public via the new site.

The CFB partnered with award-winning, NYC-based branding & interactive firm Matthew Schwartz Design Studio (MSDS) to design a website user experience that enhances accessibility, transparency, and awareness. The new design was informed by interviews and focus groups conducted with candidates, campaign treasurers and liaisons, civic groups, members of the press, and other stakeholders.

Amy Loprest, Executive Director of the CFB, said: “A key element of the CFB’s mission is ensuring New York City voters benefit from transparent elections. We believe our website reflects that goal through this modern, clear, and accessible design. Throughout this redesign, we engaged our user base to better understand how the public navigates our site and how we could provide information in a more streamlined, elegant fashion.”

“We focus on helping socially responsible organizations leverage design strategies to scale their impact,” remarked MSDS Design Director, Ryan Reynolds. “This collaboration demonstrates what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together to advance issues for the common good and civic engagement.”

The improved site architecture helps better connect users with vital election resources like the city’s official Voter Guide, the CFB’s searchable database of campaign finance data, comprehensive compliance guidance for candidates, background on the CFB’s voter engagement activities, information on NYC’s landmark campaign finance program, and much more.

The CFB is eager to know what you think about the new website. Visit today and share your feedback: www.nyccfb.info.
