The New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) held a regularly scheduled meeting today, immediately prior to its post-election hearing.
The Board voted to approve an adjustment to the expenditure limits for the 2017 election cycle. The expenditure limits adjustment is mandated by law and is based on the change in the consumer price index for the metropolitan New York-New Jersey region, published by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. Maximum public funds amounts are also adjusted, because by law, they are set to be 55 percent of the expenditure limit. The new limits are in the table below.
Office | Expenditure Limit | Out-Year Expenditure Limit | Maximum Public Funds |
Mayor | $6,969,000 | $328,000 | $3,832,950 |
Public Advocate | $4,357,000 | $328,000 | $2,396,350 |
Comptroller | $4,357,000 | $328,000 | $2,396,350 |
Borough President | $1,569,000 | $146,000 | $862,950 |
City Council | $182,000 | $49,000 | $100,100 |
