Candidate for the Council District 12 Special Election Files with the Campaign Finance Board

October 23, 2012

One candidate in the Council District 12 special election has filed required campaign finance disclosure statements with the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB).  This is the second scheduled disclosure statement for the special election on November 6.

All potential candidates in the Council District 12 special election are required by law to provide a detailed report of all financial activity for their campaigns from October 2 through October 22, 2012.

The following candidate has submitted disclosure statements as of today:

Simmons-Oliver, Cheryl

Updated, detailed information for this candidate can be found on the CFB website’s financial summary page and in the searchable online database. Notices of new filings will be posted to the CFB’s Twitter feed, @NYCCFB, as they become available. You can search for updates with the hashtag #FilingDay.

All candidates in the Council District 12 special election will file electronically via C-SMART Web, the CFB's new web-based disclosure application that allows campaigns to submit their filings from any computer with Internet access. Submissions must be made by midnight, October 26.

Starting October 23, all candidates in this special election must report any contributions or loans of more than $1,000 and expenditures of more than $20,000 within 24 hours of the transaction. These pre-election statements will be available on the CFB website in PDF format.

Board rules adopted earlier this year requiring disclosure of independent expenditures are in effect for this special election. Friday, October 26 is also the second deadline for disclosure of independent expenditures in this election. More information about the rules is also available on the CFB website.
