With legislation enacted to extend term limits from two to three terms, some candidates from the 2009 elections chose to freeze or suspend their campaigns for the next citywide elections to take place in 2013 in accordance with an advisory opinion issued by the Board in November 2008. A total of 19 candidates re-registered with their previous committees for the 2013 elections. As a result, details of these candidates’ spending may be spread across two election cycles. An in-depth summary of these candidates’ finances can be found below.
Group 1:
These candidates had been seeking a "higher" office in 2009, but instead chose to run for re-election to their current office. By filing before today's deadline, they activate their previous committee.
Group 2:
These candidates chose to end their 2009 campaign instead of running against a previously term-limited incumbent. By filing before today's deadline, they activate their 2009 committee for a 2013 campaign.
Candidates may deliver statements to the CFB, submit filings electronically, or send the materials by mail, as long as mailed submissions are postmarked by midnight tonight.
Additional updates will be posted throughout the day.
