October 23, 2013

As of 3:30 PM today, 35 candidates and one independent spender in the 2013 citywide elections have filed required campaign finance disclosure statements with the Campaign Finance Board (CFB). All candidates in the general elections for city office are required to file disclosure statements by midnight, October 25, for the period covering October 1 through October 21.

Outside groups or individuals that have spent $1,000 or more supporting or opposing a general election candidate or ballot proposal must also disclose their spending by the same deadline. Groups that have spent $5,000 or more supporting or opposing a candidate or ballot proposal must also disclose their contributors.

In addition, candidates in the General Election must submit a pre-election disclosure statement within 24 hours to report the following:

  • Contributions or loans from the same contributor or lender totaling more than $1,000; or
  • Expenditures to the same vendor totaling more than $20,000.

During the same period, independent spenders are required to file disclosures of their activities within 24 hours of making an expenditure or receiving a contribution.
