CFB Assesses Penalties Against Two Campaigns, Announces Post-Election Payment

During a regularly scheduled meeting today, the Campaign Finance Board assessed penalties against two campaigns. Penalties were assessed against the campaigns of Jennifer James, a candidate for City Council in the February 20, 2007 special election in District 40, and Elizabeth Crowley, a candidate for City Council in the June 3, 2008 special election in District 30. The Board ratified public funds payments previously made for the March 24, 2010 special election in Council District 44, and a post-election payment of $57,400 to Zenobia McNally, a candidate for City Council in the February 20, 2007 special election in District 40.

The Board announced a post-election payment of public funds to Ms. James of $23,640, less the penalties of $500. Ms. Crowley’s penalties have already been paid.

The Board also voted to dismiss complaints against the 2009 campaigns of City Council candidates Peter Koo (CD#20) and Yetta Kurland (CD#3).
