CFB Statement on Indictment of NYC Candidate for 2015 City Council Election in Queens
September 7, 2016
Amy Loprest, executive director of the New York City Campaign Finance Board, issued the following statement on yesterday's indictment on charges of attempted grand larceny and filing false instruments of a candidate in the 2015 City Council election.
"This is an example of how the CFB's rigorous audits help protect the public matching funds that ensure New Yorkers get elections focused on their interests, and not those of deep-pocketed special interests. City taxpayers should be aware that the CFB discovered the alleged fraud and that no public funds were ever paid to this candidate. We want to thank the New York County District Attorney's Office for pursuing this matter."
