New York City Campaign Finance Board Issues Annual Voter Assistance Report

April 30, 2013

The Campaign Finance Board (CFB) and its Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC) announced the release of the 2012-2013 Voter Assistance Annual Report, as mandated by the City Charter.

The Annual report summarizes our work over the past year to engage more New Yorkers in the electoral process, through the NYC Votes campaign. The report:

  • highlights our work engaging communities that traditionally have lower voter turnout;
  • spotlights our partnerships with organizations that helped us reach more New Yorkers;
  • details efforts by other City agencies to inform New Yorkers about important election deadlines and dates;
  • analyzes voter turnout rates in each election held in 2012;
  • looks ahead at NYC Votes initiatives for 2013-2014; and
  • recommends changes to state election law, including nonpartisan election administration and instant runoff voting, among other reforms.

The VAAC welcomes any comments on its annual voter assistance report. A public hearing will be held on Monday, May 13 at 5:30 PM in the OATH Conference Room E at 40 Rector Street, 6th Floor.

NYC Votes is the non-partisan voter engagement campaign of the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) and its Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC). In addition to promoting voter registration, participation, and civic engagement in New York City through its many programs and partnerships, NYC Votes sponsors the city’s official Debate Program and produces the citywide Voter Guide.
