NYC Votes Launches Voters of New York Series

October 14, 2016

On today's voter registration deadline, NYC Votes is pleased to announce the launch of its Voters of New York  project, which highlights stories from everyday New Yorkers sharing their personal thoughts about voting and why they plan to vote in this election.

NYC Votes will be posting photos and testimonials from New Yorkers like the one below from now until Election Day on November 8. You can view the Voters of New York program on Instagram. Photos and interviews from the series can also be seen on Facebook and Twitter. Search for this content on social media with the hashtag #VotersofNewYork. Learn more about the project on the CFB's blog.

The deadline to register to vote on General Election Day is TODAY, Friday, October 14th. Visit Voting.NYC to check your registration status and to print out voter registration forms. Voter registration forms must be completed and postmarked by midnight tonight.

Below is a photo and quote from one of the Voters of New York participants:

"Minimum wage should be raised and there needs to be affordable housing. We need to give young people access to jobs. Without this they will sell drugs and commit crimes. We also have to train young people to be positive! No negativity! They don’t realize the importance of voting. You can vote someone in and they will help the society and our communities.”

NYC Votes is the nonpartisan voter engagement campaign of the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) and its Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC). In addition to promoting voter registration, participation, and civic engagement in New York City through its many programs and partnerships, NYC Votes sponsors the city’s official Debate Program and produces the citywide Voter Guide.
