NYC Votes! Partners with Health and Hospital Corporation to Register New Voters

September 26, 2012

With Election Day fast approaching, NYC Votes! is excited to partner with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) to help New Yorkers register in time to vote on November 6. HHC facilities' Community Advisory Boards (CABs) members will host 46 voter registration drives at 20 health care facilities across the city, including areas where turnout is consistently low, through October 10th.

Onida Coward Mayers, Director of Voter Assistance of the New York City Campaign Finance Board, said, "In November, New Yorkers will have the chance to help decide the direction our state and country will take for years to come. We want to make sure all eligible New Yorkers are registered to vote and ready to participate. HHC serves New Yorkers across the city, in every borough, and we are very pleased they and their CAB's have joined with us to help raise awareness about voting."

"The CAB members know how important community voices are in shaping policy and driving change. Their efforts to help community members and patients at HHC facilities to vote is just one example of their activism and strong partnership with HHC. We are pleased to support our CAB members and to play a role in NYC Votes!," said Alan Aviles, President of HHC.

The drives hosted by HHC are a part of the NYC Votes! campaign to hold 1,000 voter registration drives with our partners across New York City between September 25th (National Voter Registration Day) and October 12th, the last day voters may register to vote on Election Day, November 6, 2012.

New Yorkers can now register to vote online if they have an ID issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Forms to register by U.S. mail are available here. Voters can find their poll site by entering their address here.

NYC Votes! is the non-partisan voter engagement campaign of the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) and its Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC). In addition to promoting voter registration, participation, and civic engagement in New York City through its many programs and partnerships, NYC Votes! sponsors the city’s official Debate Program and produces the citywide Voter Guide.
