Monday, March 8, 2010 was the final day of the second reporting period for the special election in Council District 44. All candidates running in the election, including those who have not chosen to take part in the Campaign Finance Program, will file required disclosure statements of their campaigns’ financial activity from February 16 through March 8 on Friday, March 12.
Information about the candidates, including links to their websites and how to contact their campaigns, can be found here.
FILING DAY DETAILS
Candidates may deliver statements to the CFB by hand, submit their filings electronically, or send the materials by mail (as long as mailed submissions are postmarked by March 12).
As disclosures are filed on March 12, the CFB will update its website with the latest financial information. A press advisory will be issued to alert interested parties when new information is posted to the website.
During the fourteen days before the election, candidates must disclose to the CFB any contributions or loans larger than $1,000 and expenditures larger than $20,000 within twenty-four hours. Those disclosures can be found on the CFB website. The next regular disclosure statement is due April 19, 2010, covering all transactions between March 9 and April 15, 2010.
Most financial information for campaigns may be found in two places:
- The CFB’s campaign finance summary page contains summary financial information for all candidates who file with the CFB.
- Detailed information about individual transactions can be found in the CFB’s newly-redesigned searchable online database.
Information on the contribution and spending limits in effect for the 2010A election, as well as the thresholds to be eligible for public funds, can be found here.
