Second Fundraising Period for Council District 31 Special Election Candidates Ends Today

Deadline to file campaign finance disclosures with CFB is Friday, February 8
February 4, 2013

Today is the last day of the second fundraising period for candidates running in the Council District 31 special election. All candidates will file required disclosure statements of their campaigns’ financial activity from January 12 through February 4, 2013. Candidates may file as early as tomorrow, February 5. A complete list of candidates registered with the CFB for the special election is available here.

Board rules adopted earlier this year requiring disclosure of independent expenditures are in effect for this special election. Friday, February 8 is also the deadline for disclosure of independent expenditures in this election.

FILING DETAILS

The CFB will post updates to its Twitter feed, @NYCCFB, as filings are received starting February 5. You can easily search for updates with the hashtag #FilingDay.

The CFB will update its website at regular intervals to reflect disclosure statements that have been received.

All candidates in the Council District 31 special election will file electronically via C-SMART Web, the CFB's new web-based disclosure application that allows campaigns to submit their filings from any computer with Internet access. Submissions must be made by midnight, February 8.

Financial information for campaigns may be found in two places on the website:

Disclosure statements from independent spenders must be filed electronically, and their disclosures can be found here.

Special elections have different contribution and spending limits; information about the special election can be found here.

Also starting February 5, all candidates in this special election, including non-participants, must report any contributions or loans of more than $1,000 and expenditures of more than $20,000 within 24 hours of the transaction. These pre-election statements will be available on the CFB website in PDF format.
