1. What is the most important issue in Council District 3 you would address if elected?
Overdevelopment in my district is a very significant issue in this campaign. In addition, I am committed to protecting and expanding tenants rights, and improving and increasing parks and open spaces. I have also made public schools a top priority, and have successfully worked with teachers, principals, and parents to bring critically needed resources to the district.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
I have fought hard to prevent budget cuts that would have closed much needed senior centers in my district. In addition, I have stood side by side with people living with AIDS who are struggling to find needed services and decent places to live. As Chair of the Health Committee in the City Council, I have worked to expand reproductive choice in NYC, and have created programs to improve both access to mammograms, and to lower the wait time for those life saving mammogram appointments.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I have successfully led the fight to stop the West Side Stadium. I have also led the fight to rezone the Hudson Yards in a manner that is consistent with the desires of the Chelsea and Clinton/Hells Kitchen communities. I will continue to fight against massive overdevelopment which the community opposes.
