1. What is the most important issue in Council District 29 you would address if elected?
There are a few issues facing the 29th district that I will continue to address. First the district has one of the largest senior populations in the city and deserves programs and services which will enable them to enjoy the quality-of-life they have come to expect in our community.
I have funded the capital reconstruction of many parks throughout the district including MacDonald Park, Austin Street Playground, Yellowstone Park, Willow Lake Playground and JHS 190 Playground. I have also worked and will continue to focus to protect our libraries from any cut to the hours of operation because I know how important these institutions are to our society.
Our children also need the tools to succeed. These are varied and I believe every student deserves a complete education. Our school system should provide the basic necessities as well as a well rounded education which includes access to programs for music, art, culture, and physical education during the school day and more importantly after school and on weekend.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Other issues that are at the forefront of my agenda include programs for youth leagues and the protection of our basic quality-of-life.
Citywide, affordable housing becomes particularly important with a vacancy rate at an all time low. If we don’t provide housing that is both accessible and affordable in every borough we will not succeed to build a better city for our future.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Over the past twelve years I have dedicated myself to the community through public service. My experience in government has given the tools to identify the needs of the district and deliver funding for important programs and services. In addition, my work in the private sector has given me a greater understanding of the issues that face the working men and women of our city.
