1. What is the most important issue in Council District 37 you would address if elected?
If re-elected, I would continue to be a staunch advocate for new affordable housing units being built coupled with new job creation. Our city must do more in ensuring that job growth takes place in neighborhoods across this city and that workers of all economic levels have safe, decent, and affordable housing. Housing and economic development are the two most basic issues that our city’s residents must deal with and I will continue to push for our city to address these needs.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
I would continue to fight to make sure government and the private sector invest more in youth and education programs. In many communities in North Brooklyn, there is still a huge need for senior citizen apartment buildings that are affordable. If re-elected, I would continue to use the land use powers of the City Council to build more senior citizen housing. I will also pledge to continue supporting the schools in my district by making sure that the needs of these schools are prioritized in the city budget. This is something that I have done and will continue to do if re-elected.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I am the best candidate for this office because I have a proven and identifiable record of accomplishments that speaks to the needs of my constituents in the most basic ways. Whether it is saving two firehouses from elimination, senior centers from closing, obtaining funding for new schools, playgrounds, and parks to be built or supporting legislation that is good for my district, I am there for my constituents and represent them as best I can at City Hall.
