1. What is the most important issue in Council District 29 you would address if elected?
I believe that the most important issue facing the 29th District is what I refer to as the "affordability crisis." From housing to transportation to healthcare, the residents of Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Richmond Hill, Elmhurst and Maspeth are facing a historic challenge as the economy worsens but costs continue to rise. The next City Council will be in a unique position to address these issues, which will be the focus of my office.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
I will increase community and parental participation in our public education system. In addition, I intend to resolve accessibility issues for the disabled community, promote protection for animals, increase support for veterans, expand basic constituent services and maintain vital health and social services to seniors in our district--which includes my own mother--so that they can enjoy their "golden years" with dignity.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
In addition to my community service and government background, my wide-ranging support from Mayor Edward I Koch to current members of the NYC Council will help me to quickly and effectively implement the new ideas and legislation that will make a positive difference for all of the neighborhoods that make up the 29th District.
