1. What is the most important issue in Council District 40 you would address if elected?
The most important issue facing the 40th City Council District is the lack of accessible quality primary care health services. Health care initiatives should focus on prevention and education. Dr. Eugene has co-sponsored and hosted several community health fairs that provided free screenings and other medical services to members of the community. Dr. Eugene will continue to be a leader on this issue.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Dr. Eugene's priorities are to provide quality education by ensuring that parents are involved with their children's schools. Given the current economy, expanding employment opportunities by holding job fairs will be critical in getting the community back to work. Dr. Eugene is also committed to opening communication lines between the community, the fire department and the police department, which will improve the safety of District 40. Preservation of neighborhoods as well as greater availability of affordable housing are pressing issues and Dr. Eugene will continue to be an advocate for more units. As an immigrant, Dr. Eugene understands the need to protect and fight for immigrants' rights.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Dr. Eugene's success as a City Council member is due to his dedication to community service. He has been a well-respected community leader, educator and health advocate for over a decade. His determination, experience, incumbency and seniority give him the ability to achieve tangible results for this community.
