1. What is the most important issue in Council District 50 you would address if elected?
Transportation. We face crumbling, overcrowded roads and insufficient public transportation. I would complete a comprehensive repair of deteriorating streets, correct dangerous intersections and formulate new, innovative improvements to public transportation.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
I would resolve the long standing "Loop/Roundabout" roadway dilemma by having the "Loop/Roundabout" demapped and compelling the NYC D.O.T. to implement a community supported plan. I would address the health care crisis by creating the S.I. Hospital Crisis Task Force. I would obtain the fundamental fairness Staten Islanders deserve in the distribution of healthcare funds so that city funding is proportionate to population. I would energize our local economy by working with other small business owners to create new effective neighborhood networking projects.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I possess an uncommon combination of professional and real life experience. As a practicing attorney for 17 years, I have the appropriate legislative foundation to be successful in the city council. In addition, my experiences as a husband, father, homeowner and small business owner have provided me invaluable insight into the day to day problems that all district residents face. I have had first hand encounters with overcrowded emergency rooms, skyrocketing property taxes and increasing water and sewer bills. I worry for the safety of my wife and son as they travel along deteriorating roads. I face daily unbearable traffic as I drive to a little league baseball game with my son. I deal with poor air quality when it aggravates my son's allergy and asthma condition. Together, my professional work and real life experiences make me uniquely qualified for this office.
