1. What is the most important issue in Council District 7 you would address if elected?
To make sure that the voices of the residents of District 7 are heard. To fight so that improvements to our neighborhoods don't just benefit those that want to move into a neighborhood, but the people that already live there.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Credit crisis: We must teach and preach economic responsibility. Too many people purchased homes and other items on credit without a thought as to how they would pay for them in the long run. It's time for personal responsibility and economic discipline. I want people to understand their options and what they need to do to get out of this sinkhole of debt.
Crime: We need to stress education and get parents more involved. An educated child can see hope in the future and has a reason not to get caught up in illegal activities. We need communities to speak out against those bringing down their neighborhoods with drugs. We also need to create after school programs so that our children are not hanging out on the streets. For the criminals of today we need better enforcement. The system is too easy to take advantage of and we need better monitoring so that offenders don't have the opportunity to re-offend.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Having been raised in various areas of the Bronx I have seen the best and worse of this city. I have seen what is possible when people work hard and look out for one another. I have also seen what happens when the system fails people. I will fight to make sure there are programs for parents to get the help they need.
