1. What is the most important issue in the city you would address if elected?

I feel the time has come to redefine the role of the Comptroller to more aggressively advance and protect the best interests of our taxpayers. To do this, one must not only root out fraud and waste, but also look to creative ways of addressing the individualized needs of our residents. For example, I would open an office in each borough that would, among other functions, offer walk-in assistance on tax and billing issues and host programs on financial literacy.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

The squeezing of the middle class out of this wonderful city is a greater problem now than ever before. The comptroller ought to use his powers to keep the city affordable for all, whether it is to stop tolls on bridges or keep water rates from rising, the disappearance of our middle class, the heart of the city, must be thwarted with the use of skilled advocacy and innovative fiscal policies.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I am the only candidate with over 20 years of finance experience in both the public and private sectors. I have served as Chair of the City Council Finance Committee for the last 8 years. I was Deputy Superintendent of Banking for NYS and Chair of the Securities Industry Association, New York District.
