Advisory: City Candidates To File With CFB This Week

Candidates running for city offices are required to file campaign finance disclosure statements this week with the New York City Campaign Finance Board. The deadline to file is midnight on Friday, January 15th.

The disclosure requirement covers all candidates running for office in the 2017 citywide elections and the Bronx Council District 17 special election (scheduled for February 23rd). Candidates in the Queens Council District 23 and Staten Island Council District 51 races that were held in 2015 will file the final disclosure statements for those races.

All candidates and independent spenders in these election cycles are required to file disclosure statements detailing all campaign financial activity for their respective disclosure period. The disclosure schedules for the election cycles can be found here: 2015, 2015A, 2016A, 2017.

Candidates and independent spenders may begin filing as early as today, January 12th. Complete lists of candidates registered with the CFB in the various election cycles can be found, here

FILING DETAILS

Starting Tuesday, January 12th, the CFB will post updates to its Twitter feed, @NYCCFB, as filings are received. You can easily search for updates with the hashtag #FilingDay.

We will update our website at regular intervals to reflect disclosure statements that have been received.  A press advisory will be issued to alert the public each time the website is updated.

  • The CFB’s campaign finance summary page contains basic financial information for all candidates and independent spenders who file with the CFB.

  • Detailed information about individual transactions can be found in the CFB’s searchable online database. The searchable database now also includes independent expenditure data, including images and video. A unified contribution search allows users to see contributions to candidates and independent spenders separately or together.

Candidates and independent spenders submit their disclosure statements electronically. Information on the contribution and spending limits for the 2015, 2015A, 2016A and 2017 elections can be found here.

For any questions, please contact the CFB’s press office at (212) 409-1773.
