How do you like our new site?

 Monday, July 6, 2015

Here at the CFB, we’re always trying to better serve New Yorkers, which is why we were thrilled to launch our new website last week. Our site, still at www.nyccfb.info, has been revamped to reflect current best practices in user experience, and reorganized to better connect you with the campaign finance and election information you expect from the CFB.

Now that the new design has been unveiled, we want to hear from you. Does it hit the mark? Do you have thoughts on how we can make the website even easier to use? Complete this survey today. We want to hear your feedback.

To better reflect the way people access the Internet, the new design is fully mobile-responsive. More and more visitors to the CFB site are coming via smartphones or tablets. Nearly one-third of visitors to our site in the last three months used small screens, compared to only 7 percent for the same period three years ago.

We were fortunate to work with the NYC-based branding & design firm Matthew Schwartz Design Studio (MSDS) on this project. Their expertise, along with interviews and focus groups with candidates, campaign staffers, civic groups and reporters, helped us build a new site that significantly enhances accessibility, transparency, and the overall user experience.

This re-design was several years in the making-- the last major changes to the website were made in 2007 – but these changes are just the beginning. By the start of 2016, for example, we plan to enhance the Follow the Money section to provide the public with even better access to our campaign finance data. As part of that upgrade, we plan to make greater use of data visualizations--like the interactive contribution maps we developed for our 2013 post-election report.

Just like an election where every vote counts, your input is critical to helping the CFB fulfill its mission. We want to keep making it easier for you to connect with us. Take a moment to visit our site, then share your feedback today.
