Campaign Finance Board Votes on Violation and Repayment Obligation

July 9, 2015

At a regularly scheduled meeting today, the New York City Campaign Finance Board determined that a Transition and Inauguration Entity (TIE) associated with a 2013 campaign committed a violation. It also determined that a campaign from the same cycle must repay public funds received.

In her opening remarks, Board Chair Rose Gill Hearn highlighted the CFB's newly-designed website, which launched on July 2nd.

Chair Gill Hearn said : “While the Campaign Finance Board has long been an authoritative resource for information about campaign finance, voting, and elections in New York City, the new design will better serve New Yorkers by connecting users more easily with the information they seek. Its enhancements reflect current best practices in user experience design, making the CFB’s resources more accessible than ever before.”

Chair Gill Hearn was also pleased to announce the CFB’s upcoming national campaign finance conference on July 22nd at NYU School of Law. It is being hosted with NYU’s Brennan Center for Justice.

“The conference is titled, ‘American Elections at the Crossroads: How do we restore voters’ faith in elections and get them back to the polls?’ The Board has invited key thinkers, practitioners, and stakeholders in the campaign finance field to participate in a series of panels on harnessing the public financing of elections to reengage voters in our democracy,” said Chair Gill Hearn.
