Disclosure Period For 2013 Elections Ends Today

Today marks the end of the current fundraising period for the 2013 elections. Candidates in the general election are required to file disclosure statements detailing their campaigns' financial activity from October 1, 2013 through October 21, 2013.

Candidates may file as early as tomorrow, October 22. A complete list of candidates registered with the CFB in the 2013 elections is available here.

All candidates participating in the public matching funds program must file disclosures by close of business on Friday, October 25, in order to be eligible for public funds payments scheduled for Thursday, October 31.

October 25 is also the deadline to disclose independent expenditures made during the same period.

In addition, the daily pre-general election disclosure period begins tomorrow, October 22. Candidates in the General Election must submit a pre-election disclosure statement within 24 hours to report the following:

  • Contributions or loans from the same contributor or lender totaling more than $1,000; or
  • Expenditures to the same vendor totaling more than $20,000.

During the same period, independent spenders are required to file disclosures of their activities within 24 hours of making an expenditure or receiving a contribution.

FILING DETAILS

Starting Tuesday, October 22, the CFB will post updates to its Twitter feed, @NYCCFB, as filings are received. You can easily search for updates with the hashtag #FilingDay.

We will update our website at regular intervals to reflect disclosure statements that have been received. A press advisory will be issued to alert the public each time the website is updated.

Financial information may be found in on the website:

  • The CFB's campaign finance summary page contains basic financial information for all candidates and independent spenders who file with the CFB.
  • Campaign finance summaries will allow users to compare campaign spending and independent expenditures side-by-side and new charts will allow users to compare candidates in every race.
  • Detailed information about individual transactions can be found in the CFB's searchable online database. The searchable database now also includes independent expenditure data. including images and video. A unified contribution search allows users to see contributions to candidates and independent spenders separately or together.

The next filing deadline for candidates and independent spenders in the 2013 elections is after the election, on December 2.
