Fifteenth Disclosure Period For 2013 Elections Ends Thursday

November 27, 2013

November 27, 2013 — In addition to being Thanksgiving, tomorrow is also the final day in the current campaign finance disclosure period for candidates in the 2013 general elections, which began two weeks before Election Day. Candidates in the general election are required to file disclosure statements detailing their campaigns’ financial activity from October 22, 2013 through November 28, 2013.

The deadline to file disclosure statements is Monday, December 2. Candidates may file as early as Friday, November 29. A complete list of candidates registered with the CFB in the 2013 elections is available here.

December 2 is also the deadline to disclose independent expenditures made during the same period. Please note: while campaigns will file complete and detailed disclosures of fundraising and spending for the two weeks preceding Election Day next Monday, disclosures of independent expenditures made prior to Election Day have already been filed. This is the final disclosure deadline for independent spenders in the 2013 elections.

FILING DETAILS

The CFB will post updates to its Twitter feed, @NYCCFB, starting Monday, December 2. You can easily search for updates with the hashtag #FilingDay.

We will update our website at regular intervals to reflect disclosure statements that have been received. A press advisory will be issued to alert the public each time the website is updated.

The following resources are available on the CFB’s website:

  • The CFB’s campaign finance summary page contains basic financial information for all candidates and independent spenders who file with the CFB. They will also allow users to compare campaign spending and independent expenditures side-by-side and new charts will allow users to compare candidates in every race.
  • The searchable database provides more detail about individual transactions reported by candidates and independent spenders. Search results for independent spending includes links to image, audio or video files of the communications reported by the spenders.
  • The Candidate and Independent spending charts provide a race-by-race illustration of all the spending in the 2013 as reported by candidates and independent spenders.

Candidates and independent spenders submit their disclosure statements electronically. Information on the contribution and spending limits for the 2013 elections can be found here.

The next and final filing deadline for candidates in the 2013 elections is Wednesday, January 15.
