NYC Campaign Finance Board Approves Updated Payment, Withholding Amounts for the Cuomo for NYC Campaign
06/09/2025
June 9, 2025 –The Campaign Finance Board voted Monday to make a payment totaling $540,482 to the Cuomo for NYC campaign. This vote is pursuant to Campaign Finance Board Rule 7-09 and reflects updated expenditure reporting from Fix the City. Campaign Finance Board member Richard J. Davis issued the following statement:
"At its meetings on May 12, the Board stated that it has reason to believe that expenditures made by Fix the City to create and distribute an advertisement first aired on May 4, 2025 were not independent of the Cuomo campaign, and voted to withhold $622,056 from the matching funds payment issued to the Cuomo campaign. Based on subsequent reporting from Fix the City, on May 30 the Board voted to withhold an additional $675,420 from the matching payment issued to the campaign on that date, at which point the Cuomo campaign was subject to a withholding of $1,297,476, the total amount of expenditures to create and distribute the ad that were reported by Fix the City. After the Board’s May 30 determination, Fix the City amended its disclosure filings with the CFB and provided documentation to demonstrate that the expenditures associated with that ad totaled $756,994. Subsequently, the Cuomo campaign petitioned for a review of the Board’s payment determination under Rule 7-09 to argue that the total withholding should be limited to the actual amount spent on the ad. With the authority delegated to me by the Board, I grant the petition and authorize a payment to the Cuomo campaign of $540,482, which reflects a withholding of $756,994 in matching funds."
