Voter Assistance Advisory Committee Chair Art Chang Urges Election Reform at Annual Hearing

November 26, 2012

At this evening's annual Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC) annual hearing to review the 2012 election, VAAC Chairman Art Chang urged New Yorkers to support reforms to improve the way our elections are run. He said: "Preliminary numbers show that in-person turnout in New York City was down significantly compared with 2008. Nearly 200,000 fewer New Yorkers stood in line to vote this Election Day... We are moving in the wrong direction. Simply, we must do whatever it takes to build an efficient, modern voting system that places the needs of the voters first and foremost."
