Candidate Statement

As an education activist, legislator and insurgent, I’ve fought to create a New York that works for all of us. I’ve taken on a Mayor, a Governor and the big corporate money —and never backed down. And I’m ready to continue standing up and fighting for progressive values in the State Senate.

I am running to build a real Democratic State Senate majority that will finally fully fund our public schools, reform our loophole ridden rent laws, pass the DREAM Act, Liberty Act and badly needed ethics reforms, election reforms and real criminal justice reforms and make Andrea Stewart-Cousins the first woman Senate Majority Leader.

I’m proud to be supported by Jerry Nadler, David Dinkins, Scott Stringer, Corey Johnson, Zenaida Mendez, Planned Parenthood PAC and so many more. I ask for your support.

I’m ready to fight back and end Republican control of the State Senate. And with your help I will.
