As a Council member, I will hold monthly
community meetings in order to dialogue with
constituents on the following issues:
Developing an energy plan for our City, which
would incorporate efficiency, conservation and
renewable energy sources. This will eliminate the
construction of fossil-fuel power plants, which
poison our air and our lungs;
Supporting legislation to phase out municipal
pesticides and replace them with forward-thinking
pest management policies;
Cleaning up our air by requiring new City vehicles
to be powered by alternative fuels, as well as
providing more bike lanes;
Making sure that NYC fulfills its legal
obligations to fully fund our public hospitals and
our City University;
Developing a comprehensive plan for affordable
housing for working and middle class people and
expanding rent stabilization regulations;
Developing a system of community based economics,
a concrete jobs program that does not include
massive tax giveaways to large corporations,
string living wage legislation and introduction of
commercial rent control. Community gardens and
community supported agriculture would be a part of
this.
We need to honor the wide diversity of the people
in our community and preserve our Earth’s
diversity in both plants and animals. The Green
Party encourages diversity and citizen activism.
It is rooted in cooperation, ecology and
grassroots democracy.
