I have stepped forward
to run for the City Council in order to fight for
services and benefits to be returned to the people
of this great city. The children of New York City
need to experience the great gift of public education
that I experienced. All of the children deserve
free quality education. Not just those children
who are lucky enough to live in certain districts.
We need Social Workers in all of the schools. They
need to work on preventing problems in the schools.
Teachers cannot teach if their students are having
problems. I will work to help the professionals
regain control of their smaller classrooms and schools.
While statistics indicate that crime is down.
Drugs remain to be a problem in our city. Crime
and Violence remain at the top of the list for
issues that must be dealt with. The scourge of
illegal drugs must be eliminated in our city.
Gun violence must be stopped. Violence against
women and children must be stopped. I will work
hard to prevent the use of illegal drugs and gun
violence.
The Housing Act of the forties indicated that
each American was entitled to a descent home.
New York City has a long way to go to meet that
goal. I will fight to make affordable housing
a reality in New York City. New York City needs
to house her people in permanent housing and develop
stable communities.
I remember the day when every worker had health
insurance with prescription drug coverage. And
when seniors did not have to worry about how they
were going to get their prescriptions filled.
These are now life and death issues. New York
City is the greatest city in the world.
