2000 and also elected as Alternate Judicial Delegate
for District 46.
Co-founder and co-chair of the Coney Island Volunteer
Information Cooperative (C.I.V.I.C.), an organization
dedicated to creating awareness in community residents.
Serves as an active member on the Political Action
Committee of 100 Black Women; New York City Housing
Task Force; Rent Regulations Committee for Mitchel
Lama and Public Housing; Harborview Tenants Association;
New York City Department of Youth Neighborhood Advisory
Board District 13; Coney Island Hospital Advisory
Board; Special Education and New York City Board
of Education District 21. Her C.I.V.I.C. organization
is a member of the Natural Resources Protective
Association and the Carousel Coalition for the New
York Aquarium.
A strong advocate and organizer for affordable and
decent living conditions, successfully representing
seniors, families, and public-housing residents
in housing court.
A former nursing professional who has protested
unfair healthcare coverage for the poor. On the
Coney Island Hospital Advisory Board she continues
to advocate for better medical services for persons
without health insurance. Received Nurses Guild
Community Service Award in 2000.
