As a concerned
citizen, I feel it is important to actively fight
for New Yorkers’ rights. This past year I’ve
attended numerous rallies and marches fighting for
peoples rights. I attended a march against a ban on
smoking in private establishments. I was at the
Million Marijuana March to promote the right to
smoke marijuana. I went to a gun rights rally to
support the right to bear arms. I rallied against an
eminent domain law that threatened to shut down a
community church. I attended protests against high
taxes and corporate subsidies such as government
funded stadiums for rich sports teams.
By electing a Libertarian like myself to be your
Public Advocate, you will be electing a person who
will never let government interfere in your life. As
long as you are not harming other people, I believe
the government should leave you alone.
One of my first goals is to eliminate laws against
drug use and trade. I do not advocate drug use, but
I recognize that prohibition did not stop alcohol
use any more than it is limiting drug use today.
Alcohol prohibition created high crime in the 20’s
and early 30’s just as drug prohibition has created
high crime in my lifetime.
A quality education is one of the most important
things that parents can give their children.
Unfortunately education has been in the hands of
government for far too many years. Government
schools have led to low wages for our teachers and
school choice is severely limited for most
underprivileged families. I will work to get
government out of education so that private
organizations and businesses can thrive as they have
in other industries. This will result in much needed
wage increases for teachers, and give the
underprivileged the power of choice once again.
