Bill de Blasio is fighting to improve education and expand childcare and he’s gotten results. Last year, Bill helped lead the successful fight to protect education funding, keeping tens of millions of dollars in the classroom where they belong. On the City Council, Bill secured funds to invest in new computer equipment for our neighborhood schools, and he’s fighting to ensure that parents voices are heard in how our schools are run. Bill also fought to expand child care for low income, working families by securing $24 million to create 3,000 new child care slots.
Bill de Blasio is working to keep our community safe and secure. He led the fight against closing eight firehouses including Engine 204 in Cobble Hill and Engine 278 serving Borough Park, and he’ll keep fighting until they’re re-opened. Bill is a leader on the Council in working to protect women from domestic violence. He wrote a new law that ensures women seeking protection from abusers will have quicker access to safe shelters and guarantees that no woman will be turned away from an emergency shelter due to lack of documentation.
Bill is fighting to keep the character of our Brooklyn neighborhoods strong and to improve our quality of life. He provided the funding to jumpstart the cleanup and revitalization of the largest unused property in Carroll Gardens, Public Place. This once blighted site will one day develop into a welcome part of our community. Bill de Blasio has also added more sanitation pickups for shopping areas in our neighborhoods, including 7th Avenue in Park Slope and Church Avenue in Kensington. And Bill funded the cleanup and de-icing of the Greenwood Avenue Footbridge and two other major highway overpasses in Windsor Terrace.
Bill de Blasio is fighting for our community and getting results. Please vote to re-elect Council Member Bill de Blasio to the City Council.
