1. What is the most important issue in Brooklyn you would address if elected?
Respect Private Property.
Lack of respect for private property is hurting Brooklynites three ways. In Prospect Heights, people are being threatened with loss of their homes and businesses to benefit a private developer. In some Brooklyn neighborhoods, the construction of much-needed housing is thwarted as property owners are forbidden to build. Bars are hurting under the draconian anti-smoking crusade that prevents owners from serving their customers’ needs.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Brooklyn Is The Poorest Borough.
Brooklyn has the lowest average weekly wage of any borough. As Borough President, I would work to make Brooklyn exempt from all the laws, regulations, fines, fees, and taxes that strangle small business, the economic backbone of Brooklyn.
Save Brooklynites Hundreds of Millions in taxes.
Just two of my ideas alone will save the next mayor between 1 and 2 billion dollars off the next budget. Brooklynites should get tax reductions for half that amount, and the rest can go to the other boroughs.
Oppose wasteful use of taxpayer money.
As Borough President, I will oppose the use of taxpayer money to build sports facilities in Brooklyn. That will save the next mayor almost $1 billion right there.
Improve public education, save taxpayer money, and reduce school overcrowding.
My campaign web site contains a detailed description of my second idea, which will save the mayor many hundreds of millions of dollars.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I know that small business and housing construction should be encouraged. I know how a society creates wealth. The Borough President should fight for the economic needs of Brooklyn, not use his position of public trust for cheerleading and weight loss.
