1. What is the most important issue in Council District 20 you would address if elected?

I strongly support a quality education system. I believe parents should have an option when it comes to their child’s schooling. I support charter schools and vouchers programs, both would ease overcrowding in public schools, and provide financial aid to families who need it. Since studies show that phonics is the #1 reading program in the nation, I would promote implementation of phonics back into our public schools. It is our duty to provide the best possible education to our children, and I would work tirelessly to reach that goal.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I would address family and life issues. The family is the hallmark of society. I believe marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman, and I support keeping it that way. All too often, politicians seek to satisfy special interest groups, rather than represent the values of their constituents. The idea that life begins at conception is not just a moral truth, it is a scientific reality. I oppose the manipulation or destruction of embryos and support adult stem cell research. I would address the harmful effects of abortion and support informed consent and parental authorization for minors. I would fight to keep the harmful “morning after” pill off pharmacy shelves. True freedom begins at home, and it starts with the family. I would ask the city council to work together to end the degradation of life.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I am a life-long resident of queens. I’ve worked, studied and raised my children here. My community is part of me. I am first generation American of Cuban Puerto Rican decent with old-fashioned professional work ethic and community spirit. I was raised with certain values that I hold dear to my heart; love of God, love of family and love of country. I would work to build a community that supports these ideals and supports out military. Brave men and women have trained well and protected us, they deserve nothing less than our respect and encouragement. With your support, I would add a conservative voice to the city council.
