1. What is the most important issue in Council District 26 you would address if elected?

Improving our schools remains my top priority. Over the past four years, I’ve visited every school in my district each year and secured over $3 million to provide the technology our children need to succeed. I’ve created new baseball and basketball leagues to give our children positive places to go after school, given hardcover dictionaries to all elementary school graduates, and I’ve written a law to provide voter registration cards to every high school graduate citywide. At the heart of every good neighborhood is a great school, and ensuring that our schools are first-rate is essential for our City’s future.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

We must do all that we can to ensure that our neighborhoods are safe and clean, and that opportunity is accessible to all New Yorkers. By bringing the Doe Fund to Queens and launching an anti-graffiti taskforce, I’ve helped make our neighborhood cleaner today than it has ever been. I’ve also worked to expand opportunity by supporting free college prep programs and partnering with the ERDA Alliance to connect people to good jobs.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I grew up in Queens, and I was blessed with great public schools, a clean, safe neighborhood, and access to opportunity. It is my job, and my privilege, to ensure that every child who grows up in our City today has the same opportunities that I’ve had. Working with my friends and neighbors, I am proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past four years. We have much more work to do. I believe I have the vision, and the vigor, to help lead this City in the 21st century.
