1. What is the most important issue in Council District 39 you would address if elected?
Most important is our effort to continue to improve our district’s public schools. From fighting for our fair share of state funding, to working with parents and school officials to manage this year’s troubled middle school application process, to investing in technology, I believe we have taken significant steps forward during the last four years. In my next term, I will continue that work, while fighting with leaders from throughout the city to ensure that all of New York’s children have the best opportunities to learn.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Over the next four years, we will continue to grapple with the issue of balancing development with the need to preserve the scale and character of our neighborhoods. Particularly in South Park Slope, Cobble Hill, and around the Gowanus Canal, we need strong community planning to achieve smart development, creating affordable housing while preserving vital manufacturing and other jobs. We also need to continue our progress in maintaining cleaner streets and neighborhoods.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I have learned a great deal in the last four years, and hope to achieve even better things for the district and for the city should I be reelected.
