1. What is the most important issue in Council District 43 you would address if elected?
The most important issue is the confiscatory tax burden imposed by the Council on the residents of NYC. I will fight to eliminate the sales tax on clothing, eliminate the income tax surcharge on our families, and lower property taxes. Tax rebates are not enough – lower taxes will insure that the hard-working middle class does not flee the city. The present Council believes that the middle class is a cash cow that should be milked to fund their radical agenda. The present councilman has been a willing participant in this fleecing of the middle class.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Other important issues include school crowding, services for our senior citizens, a responsive council office, and maintaining the quality of life. Our local schools are among the most overcrowded in the City. I will work to identify sites for new schools. I will work to improve services for seniors, including new senior housing. I will establish a district office that would meet the high standards of community service that were set by Councilman Marty Golden when he represented our community.
I will also fight to maintain the quality of life. The City Council is trying to flood our neighborhood with peddlers. I will fight this. This is just one example of the Council’s failed vision of economic development. More peddlers will destroy our community and the real jobs that exist here. I can assure you that I will work to keep our neighborhoods great places to live, work, and raise a family.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Our City is at a crossroads. We can continue the progress that has been made during the Giuliani and Bloomberg era, or we can return to the time when crime rates were high; public services were poor, and "for sale" signs dominated our neighborhood.
The vast majority of the present Council does not share our values. I will make sure that our values are represented in the Council.
