1. What is the most important issue in Council District 49 you would address if elected?
The most important issue facing the 49th City Council District today is reckless over-development. Not only is the historic character of our North Shore neighborhoods being decimated as single family homes are replaced by high density housing, but the added volume of traffic on our local roads and highways is creating congestion problems never before seen on the North Shore. The future of the 49th City Council District depends on electing leaders with the foresight to manage development in a way that balances necessary economic growth with preserving the landscape and way of life for which the North Shore of Staten Island is known.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Other important issues include: reducing taxes, making government more accountable and transparent, insuring that Staten Island transfers only Staten Island’s own garbage, providing school choice, and preserving the architectural and natural landscape of the North Shore. These issues symbolize the day-to-day problems that North Shore residents endure.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Jody Hall knows the North Shore best. Born and raised in West Brighton and Westerleigh, educated at Sacred Heart, St. Peter’s, St. John’s University and the University of Virginia, Jody is now a wife and mother of three living in Castleton Corners. Jody has devoted her life to public service, working as a top advisor to Mayor Giuliani on education and youth and community development issues. She also served as a Deputy Commissioner of Consumer Affairs to Mayor Bloomberg and now works in a key position with Governor Pataki. Jody will be a Councilwoman who’s not afraid to stop reckless developers or to fight for the community improvements we need.
