1. What is the most important issue in Council District 24 you would address if elected?

My mission in running for the City Council is to create legislation that reflects the values and interest of the people in Council District 24, and to provide the best constituent service possible. As a community activist I have found that the lack of constituent service in Council District 24 is the most important issue. The current District Office hours are too short to adequately address the needs of the community I am committed to keeping the Council District office open from 9AM to 9PM Monday to Friday and a full 8 hours on the weekend. Under the current Councilman over half of the hard working people of the District do not have access to his office.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I have continued and kept alive the fight to open an Urgent Health Care Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital as promised in the “Closure Plan.” I will fight to protect the tenants and Co-op owners rights in multiple dwellings. I will fight to implement R2A contextual zoning where applicable. I will fight to empower the teachers so that they can teach in the classroom without worrying about unnecessary regulation and I will continue to build a brighter future for our children by ensuring the best education and state of the art technology in the classroom. I will fight to secure funding for the community based programs that help seniors and low income families, especially for the residents of Pomonok housing. I will also help the New Americans to settle into their adopted country.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I am a long term Queens resident and a family man with an extensive background in public education and health care administration. I have worked very hard as a community activist to address issues in the district that were neglected or never addressed, such as the hospital closing, illegal housing conversion etc. As your Councilman I intend to give my district the most effective and efficient constituent service in NYC.
