1. What is the most important issue in Council District 09 you would address if elected?
Affordable Housing. We are living in very challenging economic times. People are suffering. We as elected officials do not have the luxury of addressing one single issue at a time. We must take a holistic approach to alleviating suffering. Therefore, I do and will continue to prioritize the issues of affordable housing, quality health care and educational services. Housing, health care, and education are basic human rights!
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Cultural Institutions, Youth & Senior Issues, and Small Business, especially Minority Women Business Enterprise opportunities to revitalize communities and create avenues of employment. As a member of key committees like Land Use, Health and Cultural Affairs, I work hard to uplift and empower my constituents as well as all New Yorkers.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I have the experience and a proven track record of service delivery to my district. I've been in the trenches as well as in the boardroom. As Majority Whip, I hold a significant leadership position that allows me to help our young, our elders, and the neediest citizens of our city. In short, I will continue to hit the ground running in order to improve the quality of life for my constituents and all New Yorkers.
Furthermore, in my first term in office, I was able to bring over 50 million dollars in services and resources to my district. With your continued trust and support, I will fight hard to bring critical resources to my community and to help build an empowering future for our children.
