1. What is the most important issue in Council District 25 you would address if elected?
Keeping our district affordable for all New Yorkers: Affordability is the most important issue facing our district. Though we have made much progress in the last eight years, these tough economic times threaten the sustainability of our communities. Rising costs of living including, importantly, health care costs, need to be offset by experienced leadership. This means more affordable housing and increased access to affordable health care.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Jobs: I will continue to bring good jobs and protect small businesses in the district. They are the lifeblood of our community.
Education: I will continue to ensure that our schools are among the best in the City by bringing cutting edge technology into the classroom and improving infrastructure.
Smart Development: We need to encourage development that is both environmentally and culturally sustainable.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Proven Leader, Proven Results: Tough times demand experienced leadership. They demand a leader who has a proven record of getting things done. Throughout my years of public service I have acquired just such a record. From working hard to pass some of the most progressive legislation the Council has ever produced to bringing substantive capital projects like the new Jackson Heights Library and cancer wing at Elmhurst hospital, I have used my experience of the legislative and budget process to get real results for the 25th District.
