1. What is the most important issue in Council District 28 you would address if elected?
There are to many young adults hanging out in the neighborhoods with out anything to do. They are in front of the business's, standing on corners, congregating in front of people homes, this creates a domino effect. Customers will not enter the establishments, people are afraid to leave their homes after a certain time, our young adults are being targeted as statistics within the legal system. My Vision is to make the young adults marketable and employable through the creation of Vocational Training and Night Centers. the focus will be on Green collar jobs, IT, Electrical, Solar Paneling, ect. Community Based Organizations & Faith Based Organizations will be partnered with the unions to run these training centers. They will keep a data base and monitor the progress of these young adults until graduation. Upon graduation these young adults will have an apprenticeship and eventually become certified. Now that our young adults are marketable and employable the domino effect is reversed. Customers are using the businesses, businesses are thriving, and the businesses must give back to the community. Businesses that come into the district must hire a certain percentage of people from the community or from the data base.
