1. What is the most important issue in Council District 28 you would address if elected?
The top issues in District 28 are unemployment and underemployment. In the 2000 census, District 28 was faced with over 10% unemployment while the NYC unemployment percentage was 4.4%.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Another major issue that will be addressed with a sense of urgency is the foreclosure epidemic plaguing our community. District 28 is one of the highest ranking districts in all of Queens as far as foreclosures. The community is not taking full advantage of all the resources that are available. The residents need to be able to receive updated information which is understandable, real, and effective. When elected I will put together a plan to gather all the tools which could benefit homeowners who are facing foreclosure, provide a clear understanding of the options provided and make sure we keep homeowners up to date with helpful information. We intend on educating homeowners who are facing foreclosure by reaching out to every homeowner within our community who are faced with these unfortunate circumstances. Also an increase in funding for education & senior services will be a main priority. Our seniors are the foundation of this community, and our children are our future.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I am a life long resident of this community. I went to school here, I own a business in the community, my family and friends live in this community. I owe my success to this community. I know the potential it has and it needs someone who will listen and I am that candidate. I will address our issues with a sense of urgency. I will have preventative measures as opposed to the reactive responses of the past. I will be the communities full time Councilman.
