1. What is the most important issue in Council District 29 you would address if elected?

Taxes. They are strangling the energy and life out of our homes, small businesses and families with young children and our seniors alike. High taxes and fees (like water board increases), when alternatives are available, are irresponsible and dangerous. I will work to roll them back and avoid reckless tax and fee increases.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Restoration of a Stock Transfer Tax on Wall Street. A modest tax on shares bought and sold would generate billions immediately. The tax is still collected but automatically rebated to speculators to the tune of $10 billion, so the mechanism for its easy restoration is in place. Prestigious exchanges in other countries already collect large fees on this activity.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I can the job because I've done it. As the Assemblyman who represented large parts of this Council District from 1999-2005, I am an experienced legislator and problem-solver. I have the relationships and ability to start working for the community on day one. My leaving the Assembly to be at home during a family medical crisis did not diminish my commitment to public service.
