1. What is the most important issue in Council District 38 you would address if elected?

I will continue to ensure that the quality of life throughout District 38 continues to improve. In my time at the City Council, I have provided millions of dollars in funding for schools, parks, community based organizations, hospitals, libraries and other entities that ensure the communities I represent remain vibrant, beautiful, and safe for our children.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I have been a strong advocate of initiatives that not only improve conditions for some of our most vulnerable citizens in District 38, but those throughout the City as well. I will continue to fight to preserve and create affordable housing for our working families, as I did when I introduced and passed a bill in the Council to extend the rent stabilization program in New York City. I will also keep up the fight for increased resources for our immigrant families, specifically by seeking more funding for adult literacy and immigrant opportunity programs, for which I have secured millions of dollars the past few years. And, as Chair of the Juvenile Justice Committee, I will remain vigilant when it comes to ensuring that those young people who deviate from their character and find themselves in the criminal justice system are properly cared for and given the opportunity to re-enter society as productive citizens. To that end, I have funded City-wide discharge planning and alternative to incarceration programs and will continue doing so.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I have lived in this District my entire life and have raised my family here. I have dedicated my life to helping the people of the communities I am now fortunate enough to represent and will continue to show the same commitment towards the best interests of the people of District 38 as I always have.
