1. What is the most important issue in Council District 40 you would address if elected?
I will work to establish a Multi-purpose Center to provide recreational programs for our youth and seniors, after-school programs, and adult education and job training. This would be done by securing capital funding to convert the former Caledonian Hospital into a multi-purpose center.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Affordable Housing by rezoning the commercial streets to allow mixed use buildings with an affordable component (30-40%) for any residential use. Also I will work to prevent the conversion of Rent Stabilized apartments to Coops and Condos.
Education: Ensure that all classroom have the necessary textbooks; increase funding for daycare and kindergarten centers.
Healthcare: Increase funding for healthcare providers to address Asthma, Hypertension, Diabetes and AIDS.
Job Creation: Revitalization of our commercial corridors.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
My professional experience, education, record of community involvement, understanding of the community needs, and expert knowledge of the Budgetary process will allow me to start working on behalf of the residents from day one in City Hall.
