1. What is the most important issue in Council District 45 you would address if elected?
UNEMPLOYMENT. The national recession has caused serious job loss in my district. This has caused a ripple effect across other areas in the local economy. I am addressing this problem by partnering with businesses, city agencies and other local stakeholders to come up with creative ways to lower the unemployment rate.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
HOUSING. From high unemployment rates to the inability of working families to buy a home the housing crisis has hit the 45th District very hard. Coupled with high rents and a lack of affordable housing these issues that need immediate attention.
After re-election I will work with my colleagues at the City Council to put in place mandatory statutes that make it obligatory for any new major housing development that gets city blessing to set aside a certain number of units of affordable housing so that low-income families can buy.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
If one gets sick and had a choice between two doctors: one just out of college, the other a 10 years veteran. Who would you choose? The answer is easy - the one with the most experience. I have been SPECIALLY PREPARED AND UNIQUELY QUALIFIED to lead this district. I bring experience and leadership skills that have been honed in countless political battles and challenges. Since taking office in 2002 I have been ON YOUR SIDE - ALL THE TIME.
