I am
running for New York City Council to serve the
over-taxed, over-regulated, politically neglected
citizens of Yorkville, Roosevelt Island, the Upper
East Side and all of New York City. I will be the
foe of Big Government and its politically powerful
allies.
We live in the greatest city the world has ever
known. It is the towering symbol of achievement in
all fields of human endeavor, where people from
across the country and around the world come to
realize their dreams. Imagine what heights we can
achieve once we get the naysayers and bureaucrats
off our backs and out of our way!
If I am elected to City Council, I will fight to
give New Yorkers more freedom over their lives and
property. I want to give parents the power to
provide a quality education for their children
through school-choice initiatives such as vouchers
and charter schools. Education is too important to
entrust to government bureaucrats and politicians. I
want to break the MTA’s monopoly on mass transit by
opening the bus lines to competition by private
carriers, introducing commuter ferry service along
the East River, phasing in street pickups by
non-medallion taxis, and even exploring
private-sector construction and operation of a
Second Avenue Subway.
As your council member, I will be a staunch defender
of the civil liberties of all our most vulnerable
citizens, including women, gays, minorities and
immigrants. I will fight to end the obscene war on
drugs, beginning with legislation to legalize
medical marijuana cooperatives in New York City
immediately. I believe that the decision to
prescribe and use any medicine should be between
doctors and patients—politicians have no legitimate
role, whatsoever.
