Mario A. Torres has been active in legislative and governmental affairs for over 25 years and is endorsed by the Liberal Party.

Education
He is a strong advocate for public education and is committed to securing additional funding for our public school system. Working together with parents and educators, he will work to create new educational facilities to reduce chronic school overcrowding, increase student performance, access technologies and provide professional development support to educators in the District.

Housing Development
He will advocate for the development of low-income affordable housing using new energy efficient and environmentally sound technologies by lobbying the City, State and Federal governments for increased funding.

Economic Development
He will lobby to give entrepreneurs greater access to technical assistance and funds to sustain and grow their businesses. He will work with business owners and the NYC Sanitation, Police and Fire Departments to maintain cleaner and safer commercial strips.

Environment and Parks
He is an advocate for preservation of the environment and expansion of open spaces. He will maximize access to available City and State funds to spur conservation initiatives. He supports recycling and increased funding to beautify and maintain the many District parks.

Quality of Life
He will work to ensure the appropriate allocations of City services for the District and will continue to advocate for funding to provide services to seniors, families and children as well as the creation of District-based youth programs. An avid supporter of the Arts, he will work with residents and community-based groups to create an Inter-cultural Arts Center in the District.
